Wagon - a "railly nice" place
On the first evening of my second trip to Kiev I had the pleasure of taking a lady out to dinner. I wanted all the arrangements to be high class. I had read a few reviews of Wagon - some saying it was excellent, some stating the opposite. So I was very interested to find out for myself. The atmosphere is just great. Anyone who lkes "the slightly different" will love Wagon as of course will anyone with an interest in railways. Wagon is "railly nice", one could say.
We had a starter, a main course and desert. Starters were both VERY good. the main courses were on the same level of "haute cuisine" and the chef mangaed to get me my favourite - vanilla ice cream with warm chocolate sauce - even though it was not on the menu. My guest had a very nice cake all of which she couldn't finish.
We had very nice wines and the service was very good indeed. Our waitress did not speak much English - but then I don't speak any Russian and still choose to visit Kiev - and my lady guest could translate whatever needed to be translated. Menues were however in English.
So if you want a unique atmosphere,good food & wine and good service - give Wagon a try. It's railly worth it ;)

I understand that the service in Kiev isnt that of the USA, but this place was ridiculous. After waiting approx. 25 minutes watching the servers walk back and forth past us, I finally flagged one down and got drinks. She took our order and 3 out of the 4 menu items I wanted were not available. My wife received her meal approx. 10 minutes later and the server said that mine would be out in 2 minutes. 55 minutes later my meal was still nowhere to be found. I asked where it was and she said "2 minutes." 10 minutes later I received a giant piece of fat. There was not 1% of real meat on the plate. I hailed the server over and she asked what was wrong. I explained that the dinner was very bad and asked for the check. The dinner was far below par and any American would be a fool to spend their money here. The service was terrible, but that is to be expected and the food was horrible. As I look at the comments above, I wonder where these people were really eating. For the same price there are numerous other restaurants around town that would be far better for the price. Enjoy the city, but please do not waste your money on the Wagon Restaurant. Thank you

Dear Patrick,
I suppose the information you left is not true. I don`t know what thing pushed you to write such critical recommendation but nevertheless I would like to assure the rest ones that this information is rather far from the reality. I have been visiting Vagon Restaurant for 5 years since its creation and never met the facts you described. The waiter`s service is on the very high level, the quality of food always wonder me with its smooth and luxury taste and style.
Patrick, If I couldn`t convience you`d better visit McDonald`s!
