First time ever an out of city restaurant Kupechesky Dvor becomes 5-star TUCC Restaurant

On May 22 the Connoisseurs visited an out of the city restaurant Kpechesky Dvor (26 km of Stolychny Shosse). They expected the evening to be good, but it turned out almost excellent and the family of 5-star TUCC restaurants now welcomes one more member!

It's an anecdote. An old gentleman who spent all his life in London decided to visit a woodland. He and his driver went deep into the forest and when the men got out of the car he was astonished by a very strange smell. ‘What is it that smells so weird?’, he exclaimed to his driver. ‘Fresh air, Sir!’ the response was.

About the same sensation the connoisseurs got when they arrived to the Kypechesky Dvor restaurant. The smell of pine, and freshness and just clean air is unbelievable as the restaurant is so close to downtown (it took about 35 minutes of rush-hour heavy traffic to get there from Proresnaya).

The dinner turned out to be as good as the air. Connoisseurs started with usual gin-tonic provided by sponsor of project NAI Pickard and Bavaria and Desperados beers provided by Pilsner Ukraine. After the aperitifs the real Russian feast started. At the beginning Connoisseurs had fresh green grasses, fresh vegetables, different kinds of pickled mushrooms, salted salmon and cold baked pork already made guests full.

Salad from veal fillet and white mushrooms with the veal as tender as it can possible get. Home-made sausages, deruny with sour cream, cheburechiki were for hot snacks. Then Lime Sorbet was served and it was more like an ice-cream desert than a sorbet.

However, the main dish - roasted knuckle with young potato and home-made pickles was a show for every member present to watch and admire. For the desert Connoisseurs were served sweet Russian pies with cream sauce and they were delicious! It may be said absolutely honestly that Kupechesky Dvor is the best Russian cuisine restaurant in Kyiv and their chef Khrystenko Oleg is the real master of Russian cuisine.

The most difficult task the restaurant’s sommelier Drapoy Alexander had. He had to select some fine European wines to accompany dishes that are usually served with vodka. The wines were selected very professionally and all of them were very good quality although they were not always corresponding with the dishes served.

The digestive – Koktebel cognac was served for those who had filled in their questionnaires and who had laughed heartily to Terry Pickard’s jokes that this time were appropriately about villages.

General mark of the restaurant was 4.7 which makes Kupechesky Dvor another 5-star restaurant of TUCC!!! One more 5-star restaurant on list of club and it doesn’t mean that Connoisseurs give all the restaurants this status, it just means that they go to the best of them!
